Personalized Catalog Views

With this blog post we are starting a series of posts that describe the Top B2b features of SuiteCommerce.

The SuiteCommerce Personalized Catalog Views (PCV) feature enables you to provide different customers with access to different items. You can divide your customers into groups and provide each group with access to a tailored selection of catalog items. You can define whether a particular customer group can view the items, view the prices, buy the items, or all three, which is useful in many scenarios, particularly for B2B websites. For example:

  • Businesses can grant VIP customers exclusive access to buy specific catalog items.

  • Businesses can show products to non-members, but require signing up before displaying prices, and paid membership before permitting purchase.

  • Retailers that are licensed to sell certain products in limited geographies can prevent customers in other geographic locations from seeing or buying those items.

  • Manufacturers that require customers to be certified to buy certain items can ensure that all customers can see the items but only certified customers can buy them.

PCV uses NetSuite records, such as Customer Groups, Commerce Categories, and Item Collections, as well as the Customer Segments Manager tool, to help you personalize catalogs for your customers.

Personalized Catalog View Examples

ersonalized Catalog Views can be complicated to design, particularly if you have items in multiple item segments and customers in multiple customer segments. It is important to spend some time thinking about what each customer segment can and cannot view and purchase before setting PCV up in NetSuite. The following examples show you how to work through the design and implementation process:

  • Exclusive Items for VIP Customers – this example looks at a scenario where a subset of the inventory items are visible to all customers but purchasable only by a limited group. All other items are visible to all users but purchasable only by logged-in users.

  • Different Catalogs based on Customer Location – this example restricts the items visible depending on the customer location. Some items are visible and purchasable to customers from more than one location.

  • Items Available only to Certified Customers – this example restricts the purchase of products from specific product lines to customers who have achieved the required certification. Some customers may be certified for more than one product line.

  • Different Product Lines Available to Different Customers – this example restricts specific product lines to specific customers, while allowing other customers access to more than one product line.

The Unlock team can help you set great personalized experiences with this amazing feature.
