SuiteCommerce was founded in 2005 in Uruguay and joined forces with NetSuite through acquisition. Their leader continued to shape the early iterations of the product within NetSuite’s Professional Services office in Montevideo.
UnlockCommerce emerged to cater to and empower SuiteCommerce’s esteemed clientele, fostering their continued growth.
SuiteCommerce had its beginnings in 2005 when Diego Terra founded an eCommerce agency in Uruguay. The agency focused on implementing SiteBuilder, the first eCommerce module developed by NetSuite. During this time, SuiteCommerce personalized the eCommerce experience for customers in the early stages of the eCommerce boom. In 2009, NetSuite recognized the agency’s impressive growth and expertise in eCommerce and decided to acquire SuiteCommerce.
With the acquisition, NetSuite rebuilt the product while retaining the original name and team. Diego Terra became the Regional Manager of the newly formed Professional Services department, overseeing the team’s operations for the next decade.
In 2018, UnlockCommerce emerged as a company founded by Joaquin Varela and Tomas Piaggio, both of whom were former NetSuite Professional Services employees and Amazon employees in senior consulting and development roles. Drawing on their extensive experience and expertise, the founders established UnlockCommerce with a mission to help businesses create exceptional customer, partner, and vendor experiences on the Suite.
In 2021, UnlockCommerce welcomed Diego Terra as part of its team, assuming the role of Director and Board Member. Leveraging his deep understanding of NetSuite and vast experience as a NetSuite veteran, Diego plays an important role in helping UnlockCommerce’s customers towards their company growth goals.
The team at UnlockCommerce aims to build incredible portal products for customers running their operations on the NetSuite platform, they are driven by the shared vision to empower businesses and enable them to unlock their full potential in the cloud.

Our company was founded and is managed by former NetSuite Product & Services employees, who bring their extensive experience and industry knowledge to the forefront of our operations.

Joaquin, our CEO, has over a decade of experience in the ecommerce industry. Prior to founding UnlockCommerce in 2018, he worked at Oracle | NetSuite in the Professional Services Department as a Senior SuiteCommerce and NetSuite Developer and Consultant. Joaquin also worked as a Software Engineer at Amazon Europe, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team.

Diego brings 15+ years of hands-on experience as an expert in ecommerce with a superpower for applying NetSuite to elevate the success of ecommerce operations for clients. Endlessly curious, he understands the possibilities that come with technology while knowing how to apply it to serve business strategies. Diego is the former Founder of SuiteCommerce, acquired by NetSuite.
