Over the years, MCB has expanded its portfolio to include over twenty branded special occasion product lines worldwide, catering to various segments such as mother-of-the-bride dresses, prom gowns, and quinceañera attire.

The Challenge

With a growing online presence and increasing demands from both B2B and B2C markets, MCB faced limitations with their existing SuiteCommerce Advanced platform.

The company required a more scalable and flexible e-commerce solution to support their expanding catalog and enhance the user experience. Additionally, MCB’s complex inventory management system, which combines in-stock availability with inbound shipments for future stock replenishment, necessitated a platform capable of handling intricate ordering processes.

To address these challenges, MCB partnered with UnlockCommerce to explore the feasibility of migrating one of their brands to Shopify through a Proof-of-Concept (POC) project. This phased approach aimed to demonstrate Shopify’s capabilities in handling MCB’s unique requirements:

Focus on deploying the Shopify platform to enable effective and efficient browsing of inventory and its details, based on NetSuite’s item data imported via CSV uploads.

Establish a real-time connection between Shopify and NetSuite to synchronize inventory stock levels and incoming shipments.

Fully launch the selected brand on Shopify, leveraging the enhancements from the previous phases.

Success Criteria

The success of Phase 1 was evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Browsing Speed and Information Availability: Ensuring that users can quickly and seamlessly access product information.
  • Successful Image Loading: All product images are correctly loaded into Shopify, enhancing visual appeal.
  • Accurate Inventory Details: Inventory information imported from NetSuite via CSV is precise and up-to-date.
  • Optimized User Experience: Implementation of inventory grids or displays that enhance user interaction, particularly in settings like trade shows.
